Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Apphara Tech ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Apphara Player application (the "Software"). Apphara Player is designed to be local-first: your media, library, and personal data stay on your Mac. We do not operate accounts, run analytics, or sell data.
1. Summary
Your video and music files, thumbnails, tags, watch history, and library database are stored only on your device. We do not upload, collect, or have access to them. The Software connects to the internet only for a few limited, functional purposes described below.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your media files or their contents; your library, tags, categories, ratings, or watch history; your name, email, or account credentials (there are no accounts); or any advertising or behavioral tracking identifiers. The Software contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
3. Information Processed for Specific Features
a. License validation. When you activate or restore a license, the Software sends your license key and a device name (e.g., your Mac's name) to our payment and licensing provider (LemonSqueezy) to verify the license and enforce the activation limit. This is handled under LemonSqueezy's privacy policy.
b. Software updates. The Software may check for updates by requesting an update feed and download from our website (appharatech.com) and our software distribution host. These requests may include standard technical information such as your IP address and app version, as is normal for any web request.
c. Optional movie / TV metadata (TMDB). If you enable metadata lookup and provide a TMDB API key, the Software sends video titles or filenames to The Movie Database (TMDB) to fetch matching information and images (posters, stills). This feature is optional and off unless you enable it. Your use of TMDB is subject to TMDB's terms and privacy policy.
d. On-device subtitle generation. Optional AI subtitle generation runs entirely on your Mac using a locally downloaded model. Your audio is never uploaded.
4. Local Storage
The Software stores its database, thumbnails, posters, previews, and other generated files in your Mac's Application Support and Caches folders. Your license key is stored securely in the macOS Keychain. You can reveal these locations and clear caches from the Software's settings, and you can remove all data by deleting the app and its support folder.
5. Third-Party Services
When you use the corresponding features, the following third parties may process limited information as described above: LemonSqueezy (payments and license validation), The Movie Database / TMDB (optional metadata), and our website/software distribution host (updates and downloads). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We do not control and are not responsible for their practices.
6. Children's Privacy
The Software is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Data Security
Because your library and media never leave your device, the primary safeguards are those of your own Mac. Sensitive credentials handled by the Software (such as your license key) are stored in the macOS Keychain. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Users and Data Transfers
Apphara Tech operates from India. The limited requests described above (license validation, updates, optional metadata) may be processed by service providers located in other countries. By using those features, you consent to such processing.
9. Your Rights
Because we do not maintain accounts or hold your personal data on our servers, most data-access and deletion requests are satisfied directly on your device (by clearing caches or deleting the app). Depending on your jurisdiction — including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable laws — you may have rights regarding any personal information processed by our providers. You may contact us with any privacy request and we will assist where we are able.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
