Privacy Policy for Varnika

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Varnika ("the app", "we", "us", or "our"), published by Apphara, handles your information. Varnika is an on-device drawing and painting companion for artists — it provides tools such as reference grids, tracing, palette and color extraction, color mixing and theory, value maps, composition and pose helpers, background removal, and artistic style transfer.

The short version: Your photos and artwork stay on your device. Varnika processes every image locally and does not upload your images to us or to any server. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your personal data.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Varnika does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or precise location. The photos you open, capture, edit, or save are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to us.

2. How Your Photos and Media Are Used

To do its job, the app needs access to images you choose to work with:

All image editing and analysis — including subject/background segmentation and neural style transfer — runs locally using on-device models bundled with the app. Your projects are stored in a local database on your device and are not synced to any server by us.

3. Third-Party Services

Varnika uses the following Google services. These operate under Google's own privacy policies, and some may collect data (such as a device advertising identifier) as described below.

ServicePurposeData involved
Google AdMob Displays ads in the free version of the app Advertising ID (AD_ID), device and ad-interaction data
Google Play Billing Processes in-app purchases (e.g. removing ads / unlocking premium) Purchase status; payment is handled by Google, not by us
Google Play In-App Review Lets you optionally rate the app Handled entirely by Google Play
Google Play In-App Updates Prompts you to update the app when a new version is available Handled entirely by Google Play

For more information on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy and information on how AdMob uses data.

4. Advertising Identifier

The free version of Varnika serves ads through AdMob, which may use your device's advertising identifier to provide and measure ads. You can reset or delete this identifier at any time in your device settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads. Purchasing the ad-free / premium version stops ads from being served.

5. Permissions We Request

6. Children's Privacy

Varnika is a general-audience creativity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

7. Data Security and Retention

Because your images and projects are stored locally on your device, their security depends on your device's own protections. You can delete your projects and exported images at any time from within the app or through your device's file manager. Uninstalling the app removes its local data from your device.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control over the images and projects stored on your device. For data held by Google (such as advertising or purchase records), please refer to Google's privacy controls.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
